Audrey Kawasaki is a 29 year old, Los Angeles based lowbrow/pop surrealist painter who specializes in oil paintings on panels of wood. She also does what she calls "doodles" in graphite, colored pencil and ink on paper or hand-cut paper. Her subject matter is mainly that of adolescent females, in both innocent and erotic situations. Her work is stongly influenced by both art nouveau and Japanese manga comics. Kawasaki studied painting at the Pratt Institute in New York, NY but left before completing her degree. A dreamy, yet melancholy feel permeates her work.
